Where are we?

Boise, Idaho: School location in Boise North End district (723 N. 15th Street). Most classes taught on-site. Some cooking classes taught off-site at various locations.

Portland, Oregon: The school is looking to formally expand its offerings into the Portland community. Stay tuned!

What do we do?

Maintaining health is a lifestyle commitment. At The Wellspring School for Healing Arts we believe in empowerment through education in making healthier and conscious choices for better living.

How did it start?

Rylen Feeney began teaching Amma Bodywork Therapy in the early 90ʼs. In 1995, she founded The Wellspring School for Healing Arts in Boise, Idaho. Committed to preserving the art and tradition of Amma, the schoolʼs flagship 1,000-hour Amma Bodywork Therapy certification program combines training in nutrition, holistic lifestyle, qigong and exposure to the nutrients and herbs. The first Wholistic Nutrition Program was launched in 2007 and focuses on the principles of holistic health and covers nutrition from both Eastern and Western perspectives.

The Last Couple of Years

In 2007 (a busy year!), Rylen moved to Portland, Oregon, while she continued to own and operate The Wellspring School in Boise. In 2009, Rylen started the first Amma Bodywork Therapy program in Portland.  In 2010, Rylen brought a new business partner on board, Rachael Myles, to manage school operations. Based in Boise, Rachael is a graduate of both the Amma and Wholistic Nutrition programs, and maintains a strong business and management background along with a passion for healthy living. Rachael has been working closely with Rylen these past several months on the direction and growth f The Wellspring School for Healing Arts and its offerings in both the Portland and Boise communities. With Amma programs underway in both locations, a Boise Wholistic Nutrition Program set for completion this fall and two new Wholistic Nutrition Programs slated to start in the fall/winter in both locations, The Wellspring School is busier than ever!

  1. Hello,

I am very interested in becoming a Holistic Nutritionist. I have been looking into several programs and would like some more information on what it takes to become a working Holistic Nutritionist. It is difficult to tell what programs would help me to be more competitive in the field to be able to get a job. Also, what kinds of jobs do graduates from The Wellspring school attain? Any information you can respond with would be helpful and much appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    • Tami,

Thank you so much for your interest in The Wellspring School Wholistic Nutrition Program. The field of Wholistic Nutrition is an exciting one and potential career paths are numerous. It really depends on the individual’s interest, background and direction they want to take in cultivating a practice. Graduates of our program have the option of working independently in a consultative capacity with individuals interested in addressing wellness through nutrition or in tandem with other healthcare practitioners. Teaching people how to shop, cook, plan menus is another major area of interest and opportunity. Community education has been a focus as well. We even have a couple of graduates who’ve started a whole foods based catering business. Again, it really depends on your specific areas of interest. Please feel free to call or email the school directly with any questions. I’d be happy to answer and provide additional detail. Just ask for Rachael at info@thewellspring.org or 208-388-0206.
